ALTAR

ALTAR

Glass and concrete altar. Although the concept for a concrete top on the altar had already been agreed I was given fairly much free rein for the glass stanchions.

AUMBREY

AUMBREY

Father Sam originally approached me to make 3 hand blown glass "stocks" for the Aumbrey.
The commission grew into making the Aumbrey in which they had to fit. The design grew from the desire to match the altar supports while fitting in with the amazing space inside the church.
Father Sam wanted the cabinet to lock and also to have a symbolic olive branch with olives across the top.
The impression of the whole piece with its sharp structured stainless steel hinges and lock, contrasting with the hewn effect of the float glass corner posts makes an imposing impression as you walk into the church under the gallery and come out into this clear large space

TABERNACLE

TABERNACLE

The amazing priceless - literally - tabernacle.
Although the front of this case is open the whole piece is alarmed. I believe that huge portcullises drop over each door and the wrath of hell descends on you if you even think about half- inching it.
It is an absolutely fabulous bit of metal work though.
